Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines was established in 2009 by the government of Cambodia in a joint venture with Vietnam Airlines where they hold 51% and 49 % shares respectively. Commencing its operations on 28 July 2009, Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines is largely centred in China, Cambodia, South Korea, Vietnam, and Hong Kong. The corporate headquarters of Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines is at Phnom Penh with the Phnom Penh International Airport as its main hub. The Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines has its secondary hubs at:

The Royal Cambodian Government formed the Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines with a 51% stake in partnership with Vietnam Airlines in 2009. A large part of its fleet and staff is leased from Vietnam Airlines. Royal Air Cambodge was the national carrier of Cambodia until 2001 and later Cambodia Angkor Air became the national airline of Cambodia. Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines’ frequent flyer programme called AngkorWards is a loyalty initiative by the airline for its loyal customers.

Earlier Cambodia Angkor Air had flights to Thailand and Singapore, but they were terminated in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Cambodia Angkor Air enjoyed a monopoly in the aviation sector of Cambodia since its formation until recently when Cambodia Bayon Airlines, Bassaka Air,andSky Angkor Airlines took over. Currently, Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines is headed by H.E.Tekret Samrach as the Chairman and Nguyen Minh Hai as the CEO.

Owing to tough competition and large expansions the Cambodia Angkor Air Airlines suffered losses in March 2013.
