Premium Tatkal Booking

Travelling gives relaxation and makes people feel refreshed from the busy and daily routine works. Travelling by trains is comfortable in India but only if the passengers have booked their tickets in advance. IRCTC is the official online ticketing system managed by the Indian Railways. If travellers are planning a trip at short notice or want to travel necessarily because of any reasons, then they have the option to book the train tickets under Tatkal booking. Adding to the Tatkal scheme, the Indian Railways started a new scheme called “Premium Tatkal” in the year 2014. Both Tatkal and Premium Tatkal tickets function in the same manner. The Premium Tatkal booking charges vary from that of the usual tatkal tickets.

What is Premium Tatkal Booking?

Premium Tatkal(PT) Scheme is a new quota introduced by the Indian Railways reserving a few seats with a dynamic fare pricing to book the train tickets. Premium Tatkal booking timings are same as Tatkal scheme and it is opened by 10.00 AM for AC classes and 11.00 AM for non-AC classes. The dynamic fare stands for the increased fare charged only for the confirmed passengers, and it is twice that the usual tatkal ticket charges.

What is the Difference Between Tatkal and Premium Tatkal Ticket?

The pricing of the Tatkal ticket is defined according to the travel classes, but Premium Tatkal cost changes dynamically. The more the demand for tickets, the higher will be the Premium tatkal fare. Premium Tatkal tickets can be purchased only through IRCTC website, whereas Tatkal ticket can be procured through online sources like Paytm and also at the railway ticket counters. Premium Tatkal ticket opening time is same as that of Tatkal scheme, but users may find tickets under Premium Tatkal even after a few hours of the opening time, whereas normal Tatkal tickets get exhausted within a few minutes.

What are the Premium Tatkal Rules for Booking Tickets?

The rule for Premium Tatkal booking on internet is almost the same as Tatkal booking. Premium Tatkal ticket booking can be reserved in advance of one day before the journey date. Users can book only E-ticket, the I-ticket booking is not possible. No concession is applicable to the tickets under this scheme. Child passengers tickets will be charged with full fare. Users cannot book RAC or Waiting List tickets under Premium Tatkal booking.
