Frontier Airlines (Code: F9) is an American ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Frontier Airlines is the eighth largest commercial airline and operates flights to more than 80 destinations across the globe. The airline has its services throughout the United States and six destinations abroad, with an expansive range of about 65 destinations in the United States along with others in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Mexico. 

The Frontier Airlines baggage policy is rather strict for safety reasons. It allows:

• Checked baggage / Hold luggage: The fees are applicable per increase in the number bags checked.
• Overweight and Oversize bags: Fees on these is Applicable per bag which depends on weight and size categories.
• Frontier Airlines baggage size policies allow Carry-On Bags to be no larger 16” long, than 24” tall, 10” wide and (including wheels, handles, and straps) while the Frontier Airlines baggage weight policies restrict them to be not any heavier than 35 pounds.

• Web check-in: You may opt for Frontier Airlines web check-in for flights online starting 24 hours before the scheduled departure time (depending on your departure city and destination) to receive a printable boarding pass.
• Kiosk check-in: Travellers can also check-in for their flights at the airport self-service kiosk any time 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time and print the boarding pass.
• Airport check-in: For international flights, you should reach the airport 3 hours before your flight departure time, and the check-in closes 1 hour prior to departure time for all international flights. For domestic flights, you should reach the airport 90 minutes before your flight departure time. Frontier Airlines Check-in Link closes 45 minutes prior to departure time for all domestic carriers.

Frontier Airlines has an interesting history. Probably the best for any airline so far, it was first formed in June 1950 with a merger of three leading airlines i.e. Monarch Airlines, Challenger and Arizona Airlines. Frontier airline got the major breakthrough and joined the league of big-players in 1967 with the purchase of Central Airlines of Texas. With a growing economy and new airlines, it started facing huge competition during the 1980s. In 1985, it was sold to a low-cost carrier named People Express. Continental, in 1986, bought the airline and ended up with the name of first Frontier Airlines. The second Frontier Airlines came into existence with scaling back its Denver Hub. The new airline’s executives began with a new plan in 1993, and with just two planes to start with, the airline took off in mid-1994. Finance became a huge problem when the oil price rocketed in 2007 and 2008 and the company filed for bankruptcy. In 2009, Frontier Airlines became a subsidiary of the Republic Airlines.
