Fiji Airways, formerly known as Air Pacific, is a flag carrier of Fiji. The airline had their first commercial flight in 1951 and currently operates international flights to 12 countries and 23 cities. The Fiji government owns 52% of the airline and over 64% of all people who fly to Fiji are served by Fiji Airways Group.

Cabin Baggage - For economy class, one piece of luggage and for business class two pieces of luggage each weighing 7 kgs is permitted with maximum dimensions restrictions of 55cm× 45cm×20cm and maximum total dimension according to Fiji Airways Baggage size restrictions being 158 cm for every class ticket.

International flights: According to Fiji Airways baggage policy, passengers are entitled to a free baggage allowance of one piece of luggage weighing 23 kg for economy class and three pieces of luggage weighing 30 kg for business class for all destinations (except to/from the US and Canada) with maximum dimensions being 158 cm.

Domestic flights: For domestic flights to any part of the serving place of the country Fiji Airways Baggage Weight standards, passengers are allowed to carry baggage up to 15 kgs.

Web check-in: Travellers who have confirmed flight tickets can conveniently do an online web check-in using their booking reference. Fiji Airways web check-in for all carriers opens 24 hours before and closes 4 hours prior to departure of your flight.

Kiosk check-in: Self-service Kiosks are available at selected airports where check-in can be done directly 30 minutes (for domestic flights) and 90 minutes (for international flights) prior to departure time of the respective flight.

Airport check-in: For international flights, you should reach the airport 3 hours before your flight departure time, and the check-in closes 1 hour prior to departure time for all international flights.

For domestic Fiji flights, you should reach the airport 90 minutes before your flight departure time. Fiji Airways Check-in Link closes 30 minutes prior to departure time for all domestic carriers.

Fiji Airways was founded by an Australian aviator named Harold Gatty who had been the navigator on a record-breaking round-the-world flight with his partner Wiley Post in 1931. He shifted to Fiji after the Second World War and got the airline registered in 1947 named as Katafaga Estates Ltd, after the coconut estate Gatty had on the eastern island group of Fiji. The airline was then renamed as Fiji Airways late in September 1951. New Zealand native Fred Ladd was Fiji Airways' first Chief Pilot. Fiji Airways which was used to be trading as and formerly known as Air Pacific, is the flag carrier airline of Fiji. The Fiji Airways Airline code is FJ.
