Daallo Airlines was established in 1991 with its base at Dubai Airport Free Zone in Al Garhoud. The Somali owned airline provides regular services to the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa. The Daallo Airlines provides chartered, mail and cargo services in addition to the regular passenger services in both domestic and international sectors. The Airline code is D3 (IATA) and DAO (ICAO).

The main hub of the Daallo Airlines is at Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport from where the airline conducts its scheduled services of domestic and international flights. The Headquarters of the airline is based at Dubai Airport Free Zone in UAE.

Daallo Airlines baggage policy has specified requirements with respect to weight and size of the baggage for both check-in and cabin luggage based on the class of travel. The baggage policy remains the same for both domestic and international flights.

Check-in baggage

Business Class: Daallo Airlines baggage weight limit for check-in luggage for Business Class is 30 kg per person. The size of the luggage should be in accordance with the Daallo Airlines Check-in baggage size specifications to avoid any inconvenience.

Economy Class: The Daallo Airlines baggage weight limit for check-in luggage for Economy Class is 20 kg per person. The size of the luggage should be in accordance with the Daallo Airlines Check-in baggage size specifications to avoid any inconvenience.

Infants: All infants are allowed a piece of baggage with a weight limit of 10 kg carrying the necessary food and utility items of the child to be consumed during the flight.

Cabin Baggage

Business Class: Daallo Airlines allows its Business Class passengers the privilege of a briefcase with a size limit of 45cm X 35cm X 20cm along with a handbag of size 55cm X 38cm X 20cm or a garment bag which should not be thicker than 20cm when folded. The cumulative baggage weight limit for the two bags is 12kg.

Economy Class: The Daallo Airlines baggage size permissible for economy fliers is 55cm X 38cm X 20cm and a weight limit of 7kg.

Infants: Infants on board are also allowed a cabin bag sized 55cm X 38cm X 20cm with a weight limit of 5 kg.

The Daallo Airline web check-in provides the comfort of procuring your boarding pass from the comfort of your home/office. Adding to the speed of the process this option helps to print your boarding pass and it also sends a boarding pass to your registered Email ID. Booking reference number is needed to check-in online.

Check-in at the Airport

The Daallo Airlines Check-in at the airport commences 3 hours prior to the scheduled time of departure of the flight to facilitate easy processing at the airport.

• 1 Aircraft of Airbus A321-100 with a maximum seating of 179 passengers. It is known that originally 2 of these aircraft was delivered but one was returned to the lessor and other was stored after an incident.

The Daallo Airlines boasts of a large fleet in the past which included Boeing 767, Tupolev Tu-154, Ilyushin Il-18, Antonov An-24 and L-410 aircraft. It also had a cargo fleet comprising of Boeing 757-200, Boeing 727-200, Antonov An-12 and Ilyushin Il-76.

Mohamed Abdillahi Abusita who is the current Chairman and Mohamed Ibrahim Yassin who is the reigning CEO were the founders of the Daallo Airlines. Established in 1991, it started operations with one Cessna aircraft and then graduated to Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Flights to Paris and London came into operation in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Daallo Airlines D3 is the official airlines of the Republic of Djibouti with its hub at Djibouti–Ambouli International Airport.

The flight operations were temporarily suspended in March 2010 but resumed soon in the later part of the year. February 2015 saw the formation of African Airways Alliance as a result of the merger of Daallo Airlines with Jubba Airways.
