The Cayman Airways were founded and started their operations in 1968. The government of Cayman Islands purchased 51% of the stake in Cayman Brac Airways which led to the formation of Cayman Airways. In 1982, the airliner replaced BAC 1-11 jets with the Boeing 727-200 which strengthened the operational capabilities of the airlines.
