The airline deals in charter planes, cargo, vital passengers and also emergency air transport services all over Northern Quebec and other places in the United States and Canada. Its headquarters is in Saint-Laurent, Quebec. It operates in 22 locations across the globe. The main hub is in Kuujjuaq Airport.
Air Inuit has Kuujjuaq Airport as its main hub. Its domestic passenger services along with the cargo and charter services are carried from Nunavik and Nunavut.
The baggage allowances depend on the type of aircraft you are travelling in.
Check-in Baggage:
With Air Inuit Booking, passengers can carry maximum 30kgs for Boeing 737, Dash-8, and Twin Otter if it includes a same-day transfer from one aircraft to another. For King Air, the maximum Air Inuit Baggage Weight will be 20kg. A single piece of Air Inuit Baggage cannot exceed 32 kgs. Such baggage will be sent to the cargo and not accepted as checked baggage. The linear dimension of the Air Inuit Check-in Baggage Size has to be 158 cm or 62 inches.
Apart from these, the following are some important points to note:
Cabin Baggage:
Every passenger can carry one piece with a maximum weight of 5 Kg and Air Inuit cabin baggage size is 23cm x 37cm x 51cm for Boeing 737 and Dash-8. The cabin baggage weight is same in all aircraft, but the dimension varies. For Twin Otter, the dimension of baggage should not exceed 23cm x 33cm x 33cm and in King Air aircraft, the baggage dimension as per baggage policy is 20cm x 30cm x 33cm. In case of King Air, the personal items and the carry-on baggage is loaded at the aircraft’s back. Additional items that passengers can carry include laptop, diaper bag, camera, outer garment or coat, umbrella, small purse, food in disposable packages, collapsible stroller, child-restraint device, assistive devices like canes, crutches etc., CPAP machine and portable oxygen concentrator.
The carry-on baggage should fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat. Any liquid must be contained in 100ml containers and placed in re-sealable bags.
Airport Check-in
Passengers who will board need to come in advance for a smooth Air Inuit check-in and baggage deposit process.
For check-in from Montreal Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International and Quebec City Jean-Lesage airports, the recommended check-in time is 90 mins ahead of the scheduled time of departure.
For Kuujjuaq Airport, Inukjuak Airport, Puvirnituq Airport, and Kuujjuaraapik Airport, fliers should arrive 60 mins ahead of departure. For the other airports, passengers need to arrive 60 mins ahead of time. In case of any problem, fliers can contact Air Inuit Customer Care Number 1 800 661-5850

Fliers can go for Air Inuit web check-in online at least 18 hours before the departure time with the help of the e-ticket or booking reference.

Affiliated Career Fleet
The history of the airline is connected with the land claim agreement of Canada, the James Bay and Northern Quebec agreement. The leaders of Inuit negotiated the land agreement.
Air Inuit started its operations in 1978 with a single-engine De Havilland Beaver aircraft. Gradually, the airline bought a single Otter, Twin Otters and DHC3. The airport was based in Kuujjuaq.
By 1983, the company was flying its aircraft along the eastern Hudson’s Bay coast with its Twin Otter fleet. It purchased a Hawker Siddeley 748 and started operations from a base in Kuujjuaraapik. This base was later relocated to La Grande. Johnny May’s subsidiary company was purchased in 1988 which started flying the Beavers and Single Otters.
The company started its operations between Montreal ad Nunavik with the De Havilland Dash-8-100 in 1995. In 1998, the Aerospatiale Astar 350 helicopter was purchased and the Nunavik Rotors is created.
The airline purchased Boeing 737-200C which can land even on gravel. Amongst its recent additions is a state-of-the art maintenance center to meet the air transport in a better way.
