Travelling to These States? Here’s What You Should Know

It’s December, a time when you make plans and take a break to travel. Well, following the Covid-19 pandemic, several states have released fresh and updated rules and guidelines that each traveller should be aware of before visiting the respective states. Let’s take a look at these guidelines set by Indian states:

Punjab: Night curfew has been declared in Punjab owing to the pandemic. Gatherings and other social events may thus be restricted here during nights. 

Rajasthan: Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner, Kota and Ajmer observes night curfew, restricting activities during the night. 

Gujarat: In Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot, night activities are gatherings are restricted due to imposed night curfew. 

Madhya Pradesh: Social gatherings such as weddings should be organised during prescribed timings due to the night curfew in Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Vidisha and Ratlam. 

Maharashtra: Since Maharashtra is severely affected by the pandemic, the state has enforced a mandatory negative RT-PCR test for those travelling from Delhi, Goa, Rajasthan and Gujarat. For air passengers, the test should be done within 72 hours prior to the arrival, and for rail passengers, the report is valid for 4 days. If the air passengers fail to submit their reports, they must undergo the test at the airport upon arrival.

Uttar Pradesh: The state has imposed Section 144, ensuring that gathering of four or more persons is strictly prohibited. 

Uttarakhand: In Dehradun, lockdowns have been imposed during weekends. All shops and stores except for the essentials will be closed. 

Several states have implemented rapid antigen tests for those who enter the state by road. Before making your travel plans, ensure that you are updated on the latest travel guidelines set by the respective state governments. Do not forget to follow the safety measures including wearing a mask and using hand sanitisers at frequent intervals.
