Kumbh Mela 2019

The Kumbh Mela 2019, one of the massive religious gatherings in the world kicked off on January 15 in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), U.P. This year, the Mela is anticipated to have a footfall of 15 crore people from various parts of the world. Reaching Kumbh Mela can be a tricky thing as all modes of transport including trains would be thronged with the pilgrims pepped up to witness the spectacle.

Keeping in mind the huge rush during the 55-day celebration, the Indian Railways has announced special trains to handle the maddening rush of passengers. To facilitate Kumbh devotees arriving in huge numbers during the Mela, the Indian Railways has planned to run 800 special trains from several stations of Allahabad district. Lucknow division of Northern Railways has announced more than 30 unreserved special trains for Kumbh Mela 2019.

Along with the additional trains being run by the Northern Railways, they are also providing one-minute temporary stoppage at Prayagraj for various trains from 13th January to 5th March 2019. The Western Railways has also decided to run one more special train in addition to 6 special trains from various cities such as Mumbai, Udhna, Vadodra, Gandhidham, Okha and Indore. Down South also, 4 special trains are announced that will run between Kanniyakumari – Allahabad – Kanniyakumari.
