It would be for the first time that Indian Railways comes up with an initiative to make massage services available in trains. These services that are likely to commence in the next couple of weeks, will be initially available on 39 trains departing from Indore.
The massage services include foot massage and head massage services available from 6AM to 10PM on the running trains. This proposal was set forth by the Ratlam division of the Western railway zone. The trains that would provide these services initially include the Dehradun-Indore Express, the New Delhi-Indore Intercity Express and the Indore-Amritsar Express.

As per reports, three to five massage providers are to travel on each train. Apart from being professionally trained masseurs, they would also be provided with ID cards from the Indian Railways. Each massage service offered would be charged from ₹100 to ₹300 based on the kind of oil used.
Apart from offering massage services to the passengers, the Indian Railways also aim at increasing the ticket bookings by around 90 lakh per year from the massage providers alone. Rajesh Bajpai, one of the directors of the railway board, stated that this is the first time that such a contract has been signed by the Indian Railways.
Update: Following the objection of the BJP MP, these services has been withdrawn, as per the reports.
