Formerly called as Insel Air International B.V, the airline was renamed as Insel Air Airline. It initially offered flights to 22 international destinations like Brazil, Venezuela, United States, the Caribbean, Colombia. Soon afterwards from December 2015, the airline started low-cost flights to Miami and Cuba. Some destinations had only seasonal flights depending on the number of flyers. The airline received its AOC certificate in 2012. Although soon afterwards the airline started facing a financial crisis, hence the airline had to stop its plans of expanding its routes further. As the financial crisis doubled, the airline had to draw out of offering flights to many international destinations.

Now the airline serves only 5 destinations in the Caribbean namely Aruba, Curacao. St. Maarten, Bonaire, Paramaribo. Although now the growth of the airline is being planned meticulously with plans to expand the routes again. The in-flight services offered by the airline is up to customer satisfaction. Food, beverage, local newspapers, and magazines are served in the business class while the economy class travellers also get to enjoy food and newspapers and magazine and also a chance to redeem their tickets.
