Mumbai and Delhi Airports Ranked The Best, Beating Singapore's Changi Airport

The Civil Aviation Ministry has been focusing on improving the connectivity to some of the unserved and underserved airports of India through the UDAN scheme. Adding to the existing destinations that enjoy the scheme, UDAN has now added several new tourist destinations in India that include Gangtok in Sikkim, Hampi in Karnataka, Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand and Shimla in Himachal Pradesh.

The UDAN scheme aims at helping the common man reach destinations on air, which are otherwise difficult to reach by other modes of transport. The scheme has been successful since its launch in 2017.

By improving the connectivity to these tourist destinations across the nation, UDAN ensures that no traveller finds it difficult to reach these destinations, which would otherwise be tedious journeys taking roads and rails.

Since the launch of UDAN scheme in April 2017, it has been successful in aiding travellers and tourists reach their desired destinations at affordable rates. As per the reports, around 11 lakh passengers have travelled using the scheme in the first 20 months following the launch, with flights operating between 37 airports that connected 120 air routes.
