Take A Trip On The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Toy Train

Have you ever travelled on a toy train in India? The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway line is one of the best ways to experience a train ride and explore the scenic beauty of Darjeeling and its surrounding destinations. The end-to-end toy train runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling and covers a distance of 78km. Museums To Explore On The Route

Other major attractions that fall on the route are the Ghum Railway Museum at Ghum, Netaji Museum at Kurseong and Sukna Forest Museum at Sukna.

Ghum Railway Museum: The Ghum Railway Museum is located at the railway station premises of Ghum. The museum houses Baby Sivok, the oldest toy train engine of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railways. The visitors can view the inside of the engine and can also have a look at a coach that is attached to the engine. The museum is open from 10AM to 1.30PM and from 2PM to 4PM.

Netaji Museum: This museum is located in Kurseong, and is a house that takes you through the memories of two heroes of India, Subhash Chandra Bose and Sarath Chandra Bose. This historic house was bought by Sarat Chandra Bose in 1922, and this is also the house where the two heroes were kept under house arrest by the Britishers during various periods. The pictures and other articles in the museum depict several historical events that took place during the times of Sarath Chandra Bose and Subhash Chandra Bose.

Sukna Forest Museum: Sukna Forest Museum is located between Ghum and Kurseong, and is a place to explore pictures and sketches that portray the history and development of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. There is also a small shopping unit within the museum for the visitors.

Best Time To Visit Darjeeling

The best time to visit Darjeeling are from March to May and from October to November.
