India loves movies and Bollywood movies are more like a religion here rather than a form of entertainment. A big proof of that is how mundane spots have turned into over-crowded tourist places overnight. Here are some of the most popular movie shooting locations:
Fort Aguada, Goa
Idyllic beaches, abandoned forts and breathtaking waterfalls; are all recipes of a great movie shooting location. Which is why, Goa has always been high up on this list. One of the most popular movie locations in Goa is Fort Aguada. The rocky fort has been a backdrop of some iconic movies like Rangeela, Dil Chahta Hai, Golmaal, Dhoom and Honeymoon Travels.
Rohtang Pass, Manali
Manali has always been a favourite location for Bollywood directors to shoot. Rohtang Pass has been in fact getting a lot of screen space these days. Located at a high altitude of about 51 kms from Manali, this space looks spectacular covered in snow. Movies like Jab We Met, Dev D and Highway have been shot here because of those reasons.
Udaipur Palace, Rajasthan
Udaipur looks spectacular on screen, with it’s white buildings, beautiful lakes and old forts; it’s like a live movie set. Movies like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Ram Leela were shot in the iconic royal heritage sites of Udaipur, including the Udaipur Palace. This city has gained a lot of popularity after these movies have been shot in Udaipur.
Pangong Lake, Ladakh
No one can forget that climactic scene from 3 idiots in Ladakh. Or even the scene where SRK saves Anushka Sharma from drowning in a lake in the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan; these movies have immortalised this beautiful lake on screen. Pangong lake has become an ever-favourite since then! And the tourism has also seen a noticeable surge.
