The Indian Railways is gearing up for the grand Mahakumbh 2025 by running 3,000 special trains to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims. Among these, 560 trains will specifically operate on ring rail routes to enhance connectivity and ease travel for attendees.
This initiative was announced by North Central Railway, which emphasized the extensive preparations being made to ensure smooth and efficient travel for millions of devotees.
Enhanced Ticketing Facilities π«
To facilitate a large number of travellers, the Railways is setting up 560 ticketing points across nine key railway stations in Prayagraj, including Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, Naini, Prayagraj Chheoki, Prayag Junction, Phaphamau, Prayagraj Rambagh, Prayagraj Sangam, and Jhunsi.
Additionally, ticket counters will be available within the fair area itself. These measures will enable the distribution of approximately 10 lakh tickets daily, significantly improving accessibility for pilgrims.
Special Ring Rail Routes π
Several special ring rail routes have been planned, including Prayagraj-Ayodhya-Varanasi-Prayagraj, Prayagraj-Sangam Prayag-Jaunpur-Prayag-Prayagraj, Govindpuri-Prayagraj-Chitrakoot-Govindpuri, and Jhansi-Govindpuri-Prayagraj-Manikpur-Chitrakoot-Jhansi.
These routes are designed to provide seamless travel options within the region, catering to both short and long-distance travellers.
Comprehensive Safety Measures β
To ensure the well-being of passengers, a six-bed observation room has been established at Prayagraj Junction, equipped with essential medical equipment such as oxygen cylinders, concentrators, ECG machines, glucometers, nebulizers, and stretchers. This facility is prepared to provide immediate medical assistance to those in need.
For enhanced safety, 1,186 CCTV cameras will be operational, offering live footage monitored in control rooms. Among these, 116 cameras are equipped with AI-based face recognition technology to identify and manage potential security threats.
