Jaipur Ranked As The Cleanest Railway Station in India

As per the “Swatchh Rail, Swatchh Bharat 2019” report that was released on Wednesday, Jaipur has the cleanest railway station in India. Jaipur has been followed by Jodhpur, Durgapura, Jammu Tawi, Gandhinagar, Suratgarh, Udaipur city and Ajmer.

Around 720 railway stations belonging to 17 railway zones in India out of around 8000 stations were considered for the cleanliness annual report conducted by the Quality Council of India (QCI). The cleanliness scores of these railway stations, out of 1,000, are 931.75 (Jaipur), 927.19 (Jodhpur) and 922.50 (Durgapura).

The cleanliness evaluation for the cleanest railway station has been done on three parameters – direct observation, citizen feedback and process evaluation. Direct observation is conducted by QCI officials who inspect the railway stations for cleanliness. The citizen feedback is recorded by asking the passengers about their feedback on the cleanliness of the stations. The process evaluation is done by assessing the cleanliness activities carried out in the railway stations.

The survey also brings out the list of the dirtiest railway stations in India. The list is topped by Perungalathur (Tamil Nadu), Guindy (Tamil Nadu) and Delhi Sadar Bazar railway stations. As per the survey, Tamil Nadu has the most number of dirty railway stations.
