Here’s some great news for train travellers. You no more have to sit idle during your train trips. The Indian Railways is soon to offer on-board entertainment on IRCTC trains so that the passengers enjoy their journeys better. The on-board entertainment services include movies and music along with other entertaining features for the passengers, at a nominal charge that would be decided by the Indian Railways.
Though this idea was once initiated in 2017 with a plan to provide paid entertainment services for 1300 premium trains, the concept never got implemented due to a cold response from the authorities. However, now the tender has been redrawn, hoping that there would be a considerable increase in the non-fare revenue of the Indian Railways.
This new feature would ensure that the passengers would be able to enjoy movies, TV soaps and music, and will be able to access the pre-loaded content from their devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops during the journey.
The charges of the on-board entertainment services are yet to be decided. With the implementation of this new feature, rail travel is going to hit a new dimension, changing the whole travel experience to a better and more enjoyable one.
