IRCTC recently launched 380 special trains to facilitate the increasing demand and provide hassle-free journeys. They have launched 6,369 trips across the country to cater to the additional rush.
This initiative aims to provide more convenience to summer passengers, with 1770 trips (4599 trips by 348 trains) more than last year. The Railway Ministry said, “While an average 13.2 trips per train was run in last summer, 16.8 trips per special train are being made in the current year.”

Summer Special Trains: Trip Records
- The South Western Railway: They have the highest recorded number of trips during this summer with 1790 trips compared to their last year number of 779 trips.
- The Western Railway: They operated 1470 trips compared to their last year number of 438 trips.
- The South Central Railway: They operated 784 trips this year, which are 80 trips more than last year.
- The North Western Railway: They are operating 400 trips this year.
- The East Central Railway: They are operating 380 trips this summer.
- The Northern Railway: They will be operating 324 trips this year.
