There will be some major changes done to the Indian passport soon, along with the most prominent one- the Indian passport will now be orange! Along with that, the Ministry of External Affairs has also decided to do away with the last page of the passport that bears parents name and permanent address.
A three-member committee comprising officials of Ministry of Women and Child Development and other officials was constituted to examine various issues pertaining to passport applications. Number one being where mother and children had insisted that name of the father should not be mentioned in cases of single parents or adopted children.

Another major change is that passports which require Emigration Check (ECR) will now be printed in Orange and passports which are non-ECR will be printed in blue. This will make the Emigration process much easier. There’s also a third, White Category for government officials or those visiting another country for government work.
“The ministry has examined the recommendation and decided that the last page of the passport and other travel documents issued under the Passports Act, 1967, and Passport Rules, 1980, would no longer be printed,” MEA said.
Also, if your passport is valid and the expiry date is far, then you don’t have to apply for the new passport as yet. When your passport expires, only then you will have to apply for the new one.
The Indian Security Press (ISP), Nasik, will be designing the new passports in due course. Till that time, the passports will be printed with the last page as it used to be till now.
