Flying for the first time is very exciting but in this era of heightened concern about security, air travellers can expect to spend even more time at the airport. Both domestic and International airlines take extra precautions when it comes to frisking and baggage check-in to avoid any undue circumstance. Here are a few suggestions for making it through the airport and onto your flight as smoothly as possible.
- You need to show your ticket copy/message to the security guard at the terminal entrance along with one photo identity proof in original.
- Once you enter, go to your respective airline counter to get the boarding pass and to check-in luggage. Ensure that your total luggage weight is in the limits, otherwise you will have to shell out extra money for the additional kilos. Check the specifications for your airline by visiting its website and looking for a section about baggage.
- There are many items that are not allowed on flights. Sharp items such as knives, scissors, and cutters must be kept in the check-in luggage. Go through the list of restricted items on airline website to pass though the security checks without any hindrance.
- Once you get the boarding pass and have checked-in your luggage, you need to proceed for security check. Follow or ask for directions at the airport to reach the frisking area for your gate.
- Ensure that you follow instructions at the security check point. Laptops need to be kept separately from its backpack in the trays. Co-operate with the security personnel during scanning and don’t forget to get a seal of security check on your boarding pass. Similarly, your hand baggage and other belongings need to go through scanning system monitored by security personnel.
- Once the security check is done, follow the directions at the airport to reach the gate mentioned on the boarding pass.
- If your flight is delayed, you can relax at ‘free/paid airport lounge’. Most of the lounges provide unlimited food and resting space.
- Once you have boarded the flight, listen to the announcement carefully and keep your mobile phones on airplane mode or switched off mode when asked to do so. The mobile waves create hindrance for the pilots during communication.
Have a great flight!
