The locations of these TV shows that look unworldly are very much accessible. Let you favourite TV show be an inspiration for your next travel and visit these countries to live your dream.

Game of thrones

Game of Thrones

We love Game of thrones for being dark and gritty. And the intriguing locations definitely help in making our much-loved TV show mysterious and full of suspense. Most of GOT scenes are shot in Northern Ireland, Iceland, Crotia and Spain. The beach scenes in Season 7 are shot in Zumaia, a small town in Northern Spain. The steep staircase where Jon Snow sees the dragons for the first time in Season 7 is located at San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in Spain’s Basque Country.

The scenes for King’s Landing, the powerhouse of Westeros that was featured in all the seasons, are shot in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Croatia has become a tourist hub ever since GoT started using this picturesque location.  The scenes beyond the wall have been mainly shot at Iceland and the forest of Winterfell is shot at Tollymore Forest Park, Northern Ireland.

Travel tip: Go beyond the wall by opting for Game of Thrones tour at Iceland.

Narcos

Narcos

The lore of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar has us hooked on Narcos. Narcos is set in the mysterious land of Colombia. Colombia has seen a new high in the number of travellers visiting the country ever since Narcos started. To explore this country’s resurgent past, ancient civilisation and history, go for a trek up the dense Colombian rainforests or take a tour of the Medellin metrocable, which does a remarkable job of connecting various parts of Medillin, and allows people access to the underdeveloped barrios(areas), situated on steep slopes. These barrios were the eyes and ears of Escobar, once upon a time!

Travel tip: Do visit the Palace of Justice which was destroyed by the Guerrilla Movement M-19. In the vicinity of this building, lie many other historic sites that are witnesses to Pablo’s enthralling history.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

This favourite creepy show is set in the zombie capital of the world (as fans lovingly call it), Atlanta. It has broken records to become the one of the most-watched drama series on TV today. Do visit Cascade Palmetto Highway to relive the opening scene of the show, or Harrison Memorial Hospital at Bolton Road. Do visit Universal Studios Hollywood to walk through the zombie-infested prison where Rick awakens in the series premiere. The Hollywood attraction is open for fans all year-round, and around Halloween, it’s just gets scarier.

Travel tip: Opt for Atlanta movie guided tour that offers a separate tour of a small town where many scenes were shot at, an hour away from Atlanta.

Sherlock

Sherlock

Sherlock is mainly based in London, the city of dreams. We may have seen London in many of the TV shows and movies but London is at its intriguing best in this BBC’s much-loved show. Be it the restaurant where John and Sherlock are eating before taking off for the great taxi chase in Sherlock‘s first episode or the timeless Sherlockian location, Northumberland Avenue, once Northumberland Street; the show surprises us consistently with many such incredible locations. Do visit London’s Chinatown and the Tower of London to relive the episodes of your favourite drama series and also learn about the tower’s dramatic history.
