After months of extensive modernisation, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), New Delhi, has officially reopened Terminal 2 (T2) for flight operations from October 26. The revamped terminal promises a faster, smarter, and more seamless travel experience, aligning New Delhi’s primary airport with world-class aviation standards.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the facility a day prior, marking a major boost to India’s rapidly growing aviation infrastructure.
🌟 Why the Upgrade was Needed
Built more than 40 years ago, Terminal 2 was originally developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). With Delhi witnessing consistently rising air traffic, the terminal was temporarily shut for renovations in April. The revamp ensures that T2 can efficiently handle up to 15 million passengers annually, reducing congestion at other terminals, especially the busy Terminal 3.
