Cyclone Fani: Indian Railways Resume Services From Bhubaneswar

Except two trains, the Indian Railways resumed its services from Bhubaneswar, within 24 hours after the massive cyclone Fani hit the state of Odisha. The trains to Puri are likely to resume only by May 10th.

Two trains, Bhubaneswar-Tirupati Express and Visakhapatnam Intercity Express hadn’t resumed their services on Sunday due to the unavailability of the pairing trains. The IRCTC trains that resumed services from Bhubaneswar include the Rajdhani Express, Prashanti Express, Bhubaneswar – Yeshvantpur Express, Visakha Express and Konark Express.

As an aid to provide transport facilities to the passengers from Chennai to Odisha, special trains have started operating between Chennai and Odisha following the cancellation of multiple trains that commute to and from Odisha. Two special trains, Chennai Central – Shalimar and Chennai Central – Bhubaneswar started operations to make it easier for the passengers.

While services to Puri has not been restored, services has been partially restored on routes that were extensively damaged due to the destructive cyclone Fani that hit the state last week. The maintenance works are being carried out a fast pace, and the operations of other trains running on the currently non-operational routes are to resume soon.
